About Kathy:
A natural people-pleaser, Kathy has always gravitated toward work centered on connection and trust. Retail was her first classroom. From the age of 16, she spent years on the sales floor learning how clothing could shape confidence and how being truly listened to could make the sales experience more than a transaction.
In her twenties, she pivoted into cosmetology and eventually beauty school, opening her own small salon in 2008. While successful, the work never quite felt like the right fit. Kathy realized that more than the craft of hair, what she loved was the relationships built over time. That clarity prompted Kathy’s next move, and she joined Ethical Clothing in 2011. By 2014, she made the defining choice to put down her shears for good and devote herself completely to the shop. It was in that setting that her values could shine brightest and have the greatest impact on others.
Kathy believes that privileging sustainable fabrics and practices does not mean compromising affordability, and that in a small community like Petaluma, the tide lifts all boats. She has developed meaningful friendships with a variety of local business owners, and their mutual support network is a real point of pride. In a retail environment increasingly driven by speed and disposability, Kathy has built something quieter, a business rooted in care and conscience.
